These drawings were done on Strathmore Heavyweight Drawing paper, Series 400, and can be purchased in spiral bound drawing pads of 24 sheets.

Staedtler Mars Lumograph 10B-12B soft graphite pencils were used for the drawing on the left. I discovered these pencils, recently, looking at sites of other artist and love the deep shades of grays and black which create a dramatic look to the drawing .   The drawing pencils used for the 2 drawings on the right were Faber-Castell, Series 9000. I used the 2B-8B soft graphite in order to get the darker shades.

Several drawings shown in this gallery were drawn from a book titled “Drawing Animals” written and illustrated by Joe Singer and Norman Adams. I purchased this book years ago to practice drawing. The illustrations are beautiful with detailed instructions on skeletons, muscles and action poses. It’s a wonderful reference for learning the anatomy of different animals.
